Screws
Dennis,
I just went to the Lancair web site and
checked the Service Bulletins. There is none there concerning the Ram Air
system. Where did you get a SB?
When I reported the problem to Tim in Mid
July he said a bulletin would be forthcoming. I also discussed it with him at Oshkosh. (Granted, he was
somewhat distracted with the Evolution rollout). I have yet to see anything
from Lancair.

I spent yesterday afternoon at the hangar, probably the hottest day of
the year, sweating and doing the ram air butterfly valve loose screw service
bulletin. Sure enough, one screw was finger tight. The other screw
was Allen wrench tight.
Thanks to the LML and a special thanks to Erik. When this issue
first arose, I implemented the same "check it often with a mirror and
flashlight" procedure as Erik, hoping that would be sufficient.
Erik's report on the LML about how quickly the screw backs out, combined with
Lancair publishing the SB, scared me into checking it and I'm so glad I
did! Thanks!
