This is now getting stupid. Now I'm being called a liar.
First off: I know what I was told by Advanced Flight Systems at BOTH Oshkosh
shows. I was not alone and we all heard the same pitch from AFS.
Second: Grand Rapids systems does allot more than the Advanced Flight
systems, so it would be obvious the price would be more.
Third: Dynon systems cost less and do EXACTLY what they've promise, nothing
more - nothing less. Dynon NEVER claimed to be adding features like GPS or
moving map. And Dynon large screen street prices with AOA, super bright screen
and battery backup is far less then you've stated.
Builders and buyers are, for the most part, not that gullible. I do believe
that anyone who's researched this or is in the process of researching avionics
for their project will discover the truth on their own.
If AFS is getting orders on dreamware, good for them. I wish the best for the
purchasers. But I know what I heard from AFS and I know what I saw from AFS.
My group and myself have been involved in building many OSH trophy winning
experimentals including a 2007 Bronze. I'm not a novice nor a liar.
My advice for anyone getting ready to throw down $6K to $35K for some EFIS
screens is; make sure you are getting everything that is promised to you, it
works as promised and you get great service and support, and that includes bug
fixes, hardware revisions, add-ons and upgrades. Do your homework OR pay the
price.
