The Chelton
has a separate database download through Chelton and
soon to be Jeppesen. There is no interface between the Garmin and the Chelton to share
any data at all. They are stand
alone and have their own subscriptions.
Other than the possibility to swap radio frequencies… There
certainly is no way to interface the Garmin and its
WAAS system and use it to display on the Chelton.
Therefore if his 530 is upgraded to WAAS
then he is legal to fly using the garmin as a stand
alone system. Every 28 days I update my Garmin and my
Chelton with separate memory cards and separate data.

Subject: [LML] Garmin 530W Upgrade
and Chelton
Anybody
know of any "issues" with an upgrade from a 530 to a 530W and the
interface with the Chelton. I have a customer who's going through the
upgrade now and is wondering about whether the GPS WAAS approaches dialed into
his 530W will show up on his Chelton.
