I took delivery of the wing crate for my Super ES from Lancair on Thursday.
I found a builder at the local airport (New Braunfels, TX BAZ) who has a
large fully equipped shop at his home outside Seguin and has built seven
Glasair's. His references checked out and he will assist/build for $12.00
per hour. I had the crate delivered to him and we unpacked it and started
to inventory the contents. I had to wait in the fuselage and will take
delivery of that crate (already packed and ready to ship w/ wing mating
option) Feb.1.
I have some questions about panels and such.
1. How much have builders budget for/spend for an IFR capable panel and what
did it include?
2. Does anyone have any experience/comments on Sierra Flight Systems EFIS?
http://www.sierraflightsystems.com/
If so, what do you think about using the Sierra EFIS 1000 instead of the
2000 to save money? I would simply install an attitude indicator above the
EFIS monitor on the pilots side of the panel. What other instruments would
you include? I'm thinking about simply surrounding the EFIS display with
the six primary flight instruments. Thoughts?
3. It seems that after that I would only need a pair of com radios (I like
the new UPS slim line series) Or a pair of nav/coms for more backup along
with a nav head, and a transponder, audio panel, auto pilot and ELT. Any
additional thoughts?
