They are reluctant to give you any of it" Returning to the Austin, Texas area from Oshkosh we were at 10,500' after diverting around weather in Oklahoma. The direct course would put us right thru the middle of Dallas-Ft Worth Class B Airspace. We had flight following so we figured they might clear us through. A call to center to remind them we wanted VFR clearance for Class B got, "we are working on it". Just a couple of miles before reaching the outer rim we heard the magic words. It was kind of like an Oshkosh arrival only with big iron from all directions and altitudes. A couple of highlights were a Lear making a close dogleg turn around us (probably not going to DFW) and a MD80 traffic call at 9:00 that was coming straight at us and so close it did not look like it was moving, just getting bigger. In retrospect, I don't think this was a great idea considering vortices, but it sure was fun. We have been cleared into Class B at SFO many times but we are at lower altitudes and not a slow moving target in their flight path. Steve Colwell Legacy in the paint shop
