There's a procedure published in connection with a
cessna AD for checking your exhaust for leaks.
Basically you put a soapy water solution on every
slip joing and then pressurize the exhaust to a couple psi.
If you get slowly forming bubbles that is
okay. If the solution blows off you flunk.
My system flunked on every slip joint.
Notably the leak in the transfer/balance tube burned through the blast tube to
my gascolator.
(This is in the first 60 hours of
flight).
I sent my whole system to AWI to have the slip
joints replaced.
I'm wondering if anyone else has performed this
test and what the results were?
