Columbia has a copper mesh that shorted to the 100a 70vDC
power - never a good thing! The RDD equipment is the same but the
installation is different. My plane has large insulators that preclude
this short.

There was some discussion earlier about
deice systems- I'm interested in the Therm-X system myself. I ran across an AD
for the Columbia aircraft ( 2006-25-08 ) that mandates rendering the system
inoperative effective 12/21/06. This is to prevent a short at the connector that
can damage the wings and horizontal stabilizer.
There was no mention of this that I could
find on the Kelley website. Even though AD's don't apply to Experimentals,
I expect the equipment supplied by RDDent is similar. -Bill
