I took these pictures of my baggage area closeout about a year ago for another builder. I was not happy with the fit or weight of the "elephant but" supplied by Lancair, and wanted better access to my rear fuselage area by having a "removable cover" of the baggage floor. This feature allows me the ability to stand inside the gear door opening from below for reasonable access to the area between the baggage door and the rear access panel. The entire closeout area for the gear is done with prepreg. To get the "bump outs", I had the gear fully retracted through the top cover with reasonable clearance to the tires. I used 3/8" carpet padding (two layers to get 3/4" of clearance), release taped it, and then installed 6-8 layers of carbon on the carpet padding. The whole assembly is considerably lighter than the "elephant but", allows more storage area, and gives me much better access to the back. Hope this helps, Tom Sullivan
