Matt asks:

<<<Anyone got any pointers on what looks awesome on the dash cover?  I heard not to use leather as it will crack so I figured some of you might have found what is better and easy to use, etc?>>>

Although it is black, the finished side of leather is shiny so you can get specular reflection under certain conditions. A dull or "flat" finish is needed that resists UV and is light weight.  The best material I have seen, and have used on my airplane for 12 years, is black ultrasuede ( www.ultrasuede.com ). Very effective and available at most fabric stores. My understanding is that this material is actually a urethane. It is very easy to cut sew and stretch. It is also available in dark blue and maroon. Not quite as good as black Ultrasuede  but still better than black leather.
