Good question! The only thing that I can think of is that the valve that opens on the low pressure side when the gear lever is put into the up position, doesn't stay open.

I have plenty of experience to know that the low pressure side somehow builds up pressure when I fly high but I don't know why.

Opening the dump valve absolutely reliefs the pressure in the low side.

I don't understand this analysis.   If the system pressure is high enough to hold both pressure switches open, how would opening the dump valve release the excess pressure?
