I just want to give you an idea as to what I have = seen in my experience. 1. Cessna 185 Cont. IO-470 total oil Cap. 12 Liters. would consum = two liters in first one hour and then at 10 litters it will fly more = then ten hours. 2. Mooney Ovation IO-550-G total cap. 8 liter will consume one liter = in half an hour. 3. Lancair IV P Cont. TSIO-550 total oil cap. 12 liters. will = consume first two liters in one hour. 4. Cessna 414A with Ram VII Cont. TSIO-520. Total cap. 12 liters. = Will consume first two liters in one hour. This is the first time that = the Pilot Operating Hand book states very clearly that do not fill oil = to 12 liters unless the flight is more that 3 hours. After my experience with the above engine I will agree with Marv that = it is better to fill oil to the limit where the engine will not blow oil = overboard and mess up the airframe. I will agree with Marv on engine = consumption of=20 oil when filled to their total capacity. I just want to give you an = idea as to=20 what I have seen in my experience.
 
1. Cessna 185  Cont. IO-470=20  total oil Cap. 12 Liters.  would consum two liters in first = one=20 hour and then at 10 litters it will fly more then ten hours.

After my experience with the above = engine I will=20 agree with Marv that it is better to fill oil to the limit where the = engine=20 will not blow oil overboard and mess up the airframe.
