According to my father who was shot down in the Jolly Roger (B-24) over
Ploesti, "Precision Bombing" meant that the bombs hit the ground EVERY TIME.
<g>

Most all had Nordon Bomb sights in their outfits and that's why they all
dropped when the lead dropped--HE had the good bombsight! That and the fact
that they were a large formation and they were "precision bombing" it made
for a better chance that one of 'em might actually hit the target. When each
bombadier dropped on his own, "nobody hit nuthin' " was the norm.

My understanding of the B-24 was that it was "precision bombing" in its day,
once they got those Radar Bomb sights. I don't know to much about it really,
just a comment or two I've read over the years.

[Hi guys, this has been an interesting and fun diversion, but I think it's time we returned to our core of more Lancair-specific discussions.  Thanx...... <Marv>  ]
