While I to think the Mosquito was a fine aircraft it COULD NOT carry more
bombs than a B-17 [maybe if you counted individual sticks of incendiaries
vs the B-17's # of bombs?] the B-17 was listed as capable of lifting
17,600lbs of bombs while the Mosquito was only capable of lifting
4000lbs. It was, however, one of the best darn Pathfinding aircraft
of the war and as was noted, a really sweet aircraft to fly [or
so "they" say, I've only sat in one, never flown it] It was
one of Canada's notable marks in the aviation side of the war,
build in Ontario as well as the UK and Australia and
mainly out of plywood! It had a loss rate of about 1/3
of the B-17's was twice as fast as the Stirlings and
was a formidable night fighter.
Just to set the record straight :-)
