I was being goofy when I made my last message about the F8 being the F-8 = Crusader. George does make a good point about the F8F Bearcat... But...=20 Overall, the P-51 made the best use of technology and was overall the = best fighter plane. It combined ease of flying, range, firepower, = survivability and manuverability and speed all into one package. On the other hand, the Bearcat was more of an interceptor. It was built = to kill kamakazes. It climbed better and was more manuverable. = Drawbacks? No range, problems with the outer wing panel structure, a = firewall that wasn't, and a lower critical Mach number airfoil. Chicks dig both types. Oh bollocks! I'll take either one. Sign me up.
