The prop I'm interested in has 72 months on it, but only 550 hrs against a 1500 hours TBO.  So what's the real reason why 72 months TBO?
Also, it's an MTV-7-C145/170-08a  S/N  91-103. (1991)

My MT electric (new Feb 2004) has not leaked any grease.  
 
For my MTV-18-C/160/105  the on-line Service Bulletin 1AB says overhaul time is 1000 hrs or 72 months.

What is the problem with leaking grease in MT electric props, that apparently require (?) extensive/expensive overhaul at 6 years, even if only one-third into hours allowed? Any 'experimenters' find a way to live with this?
