Check into the 480's unique capabilities before you decide. For example, the 480 can recall a bunch of recently used frequencies and monitor the stand-by frequency when there is no chatter on the active. Great for ASOS and ATIS pick-up and traffic monitoring when you're still talking to ATC. There are probably lots more features that I can't recall right now so if it were me, I'd still go with the 480 as the primary communication box.
