I was scheduled to land at the KSPF Black Hills Ice airport (KSPF), right outside of Spearfish, but I didn't check notams and the runway was being repaved the day that I arrived. I went north about 15 miles to Belle Fourche Municipal (KEFC). Belle Fourche hangared me for $10 per night.
The Yesterday's Inn owner drove the extra 15 (20 by land) miles to pick me up at no charge.
The Inn is right downtown in Spearfish and there are many Restaurants and stores within a few blocks.
I hear that Spearfish is known for having the largest Harley rally in America at sometime in the summer. The bikers know something that we don't.
On the way home, because I was stopping at night and leaving early the next morning, I stayed at the Holiday Inn which is almost on the KSPF field. Here you have a restaurant, pool and the usual Holiday Inn amenities.
If you stop in Spearfish, you will really enjoy this quaint little town.
