does anyone know how the stainless braided hoses for brakes differ from the ones found at this site?

You might want to check out Columbia Airmotive at
http://columbiaairmotive.com Go to "Parts Index" and under "Stainless
Steel: AQP Hose" click on "Braid Hose". For a reasonable charge they
will make up hoses with fittings to whatever length you want.
Craig, the DHI lines are a lot lighter and a lot more expensive.
