John H asked;
I've also attached a photo of an interior (passenger
side) handle that I
think would be quite nice.
Does
anyone know where to go to find handles such as these (both inside
and
out)? I'd like to go with something a little nicer than what you
see on the
typical Beachcraft or Piper.
Thanks in
advance.

John, I am very pleased with my interior handles which I bought
form a PT Cruiser parts department. As I remember they were $5.18 each. I was
going to cover them with swade leather but they looked good in the as molded
condition. There are molded attached screw covers that snap over the screws. I
however, glued a masonite block onto the carbon with a screw sticking out like a
stud and secured them with a nut. I installed three, two in front and one in the
right rear. There wasn't a good place for one on the left rear post. As it turns
out you don't need one there because when folks are getting in or out they use
the door frame as a handle. Likewise, when getting into the airplane I find
grabbing the door jam very convenient with the retractable step. When getting
off you just do it backwards. I'm 67 years old and have no problem falling
off the wing, yet. Once when it was pouring down rain and I was hurrying to get
out and close the door I slipped, but a outside handle wouldn't have helped.
When the cabin door is closed then the outside handle would help, but that is
only when cleaning the door window.
If you want more pictures, I could work them up.
