In the GE Plastics facility [Lexan, Mt Vernon, IN] and with 30+ years of experience working with compression fittings [Tylok, Gyrolok, and Swagelok] I would not recommend using any of them in our aircraft.  Tylok is the most forgiving with Gryolok next but Swagelok is the most likely to fail at the juncture of the two ferrules due to any vibration of the tubing.  Over the years, we did may tests to destruction as the vendors attempted to demonstrate their superiority.

That is not to say they can not be installed with care [follow the instructions] to function reliability during the life of the aircraft.  Their pressure ratings far exceed our requirements but it is the vibration issue that causes them to fail especially if they are overtightened during installation or re tightened after maintenance.

I do not have any metal 'compression' fittings in my Lancair.  I did use some nylon types in the static system but the plastic tubing withstands vibration much better IMHO. Just my 2 cents.. Earl

For Craig b:  Yes, I used Swagelok for some of the hydraulics -- their pressure ratings are more than adequate.  I didn't use it for all, however, because of the need for bulkhead 90's and 45's, plus the fact that I already had the flare fittings (paid for) as part of the kit.
