I believe the "sniffle valve" on my IO550-G is simply a small orifice to which the intake valve drains are attached. (when overpriming, fuel drains from this port onto the ground). For the TSIO engines, a real "sniffle" valve is used. It is, in fact a more complex - and more expensive- valve. Exactly how it works, and which one Lancair stocks, I don't know, but there are two types. Hope this sheds a little light on the subject.

 I am curious how the Sniffle valve on the cont io550/tsio550 works.
 It seems to be a check valve but if you are normally asp
 the manifold pressure would be less than outside and if you are
 turbocharged the manifold would be higher.
 This would mean a different valve in each situation, yet
 the lancair store only sells one part number.
 What is the story?
