Gents,
Apologies up front for the following stupid questions.
Thank heavens for the LML. I don’t know how a first time builder
would ever get a plane finished without it.
I’m now home from a 5 week fast build of a IV-P.
The shop is set up, and I’m ready to start some of the finishing
work. As I inventory my supplies, I have:
DuPont Corlar Aviation Finishes
13160S with its Epoxy Activator
BASF R-M Undercoat DP 25 and its
hardener, and
SP – 008A-PT Silver Plane
Copper Coating.
My ignorant neophyte first time builder understanding is
that I need to create a ground plane connection between all of the avionics
antennas with the “silver plate copper coating” and that the DuPont
Corlar goes on just before the paint.
Is this correct? What is the proper order of these
things?
Should the avionics antennas be “connected” via
the silver plate copper coating before the Corlar is applied?
Does the “copper” get applied directly to the
carbon fiber on the belly? Do I coat the whole underside or paint a “path”
between antennas?
Other emails (Fred Egli) have indicated that antennas have
been mounted directly on the carbon fiber without any ground plane – and that
everything works fine. What are your experiences with this? Need I
even worry about any kind of “ground plane?”
What is the BASF R-M Undercoat? Where does it get
applied in this process?
Thank you for your assistance.
Regards:
