Just finished two weeks at the Lancair Factory build shop in Redmond.  A great experience and if a Legacy truly takes 10 weeks to build, I am 20% done!

One question for all the Legacy builder's and flyers out there with IO-550s.  I had originally ordered a "remote oil door" that will allow me to open the "oil door" from the cabin in order to increase/decrease air flow over the oil cooler.   The purpose is to allow one to maintain oil temps at a high enough level during cold weather. (My Mooney has a metal plate that goes over the oil cooler for the same purpose - but it must be installed and removed by opening the cowling)

I have been told by a knowledgeable source that this is not necessary and that even on cool days Legacy oil temperatures aren't too cool.  This source also suggested that adding the "oil door" restricts flow slightly and leads to increased oil temps in hot weather.

Any other opinions?
