Scott,

1. In the beginning when NOT all autofuel contained 10% ethanol I would only purchase from the one station in town that we tested quite often which many members from our airport used. Now in the Detroit area they ALL contain 10%.

2.I only put in autogas in at my home airport where I can control the mix, never on a trip (they usually only have 87 anyway)

3. Yes it was in date !

4. Yes it was a proper mix !

As a side note tankers haul anything for anybody so you will ALWAYS have a certain amount of impurities. The only ones I know which are "dedicated" are AVFUEL I think.

Thanks,

I have a good sampling of planes without autofuel so now I would like to have a few which use it ! Free borescope inspection of your wings ! I will publish my data here when I'm done

The new company which owns hysol denies having any fuel resistivity data....hmmmm   Did you know that there were two different versions used ? Does anybody know why Lancair changed from 9339 to 9360 ???
Lloyd,

Hmmmm, you never answered my questions so I will repeat them:

Does your auto gas contain 10% ethanol?
Could ethanol/alcohol laced gas been picked up some at another airport?
How are you able to do this mix at re-fueling airports away from home?
Was the Hysol out-of-date when it was applied?
Was the mix ratio correct?

Also, taking a cue from Lorn where he stated he didn't find alcohol in the sample of premium that he tested, note that:

1) The EPA requires at least 40 different formulations of auto gas around the country.
2) Gas pumps I take my car to (in the Chicago area) say "Fuel contains up to 10% Ethanol" (that's from 0 to 10%).
3) In the summer, I know that Chicago and St Louis are the recipient of some of those very special EPA formulations to reduce "emissions."  Who knows what the auto fuel contents are around the country in any given season.
4) The EAA-promoted MOGAS STC requires that there be less than 1% alcohol present.

The alcohol/ethanol content of auto gas can vary from place to place and tanker dump to tanker dump.

Considering the number of hours flown over the number of years mentioned by you in your first e-mail (300 TT/8 yrs), how much do you think was saved in fuel costs?

Lets' see, 300 hrs at 10 gph, 3000 gal of which 1500 cost $3.00/gal and 1500 cost $2.00.  Hmmmm, that was a savings of  $1500.00 over 8 years or about $200 per year.

What are the specs of 9339 and 9360?

I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

PS: I have some mature Hysol and I was going to create some test strips for dipping in auto gas and the real stuff (100LL), but the results might not develop for 7 or 8 years, so I abandoned the idea.
