Very well done and clearly explained. I would add that based on your
definitions (which I like and agree with) that it's just "misfire." It can
be from being overly rich or overly lean as you pointed out. So, rich
misfire and lean misfire are precisely the same event.
Agreed on all of the ignition issues.
What we frequently hear as being labeled lean misfire is the roughness felt
from LOP mixtures that are not F:A balanced. That, is of course, not within
your definition and I agree wholeheartedly that yours is right and theirs is
off the mark completely.
