Why is it so hard to believe that someone has improved on such
outdated engines designes as lycoming and continental.
Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Mercedes, ect , Have all improved on there
engine designs by much more than the eight to fifteen percent
that Zehrbach has clamed to improve on these old air cooled,
carborated or constant flow fuel injected engines. There are vast
opportunities to improve on these engines just to bring them
up to the standards of the average economy car today.
I do not believe Zehrbach has claimed any black magic hear,
he is just applying modern day techniques and processes to a
very old and inefficient design.
Just being able tighten the clearances and tolerances on these
engines would be a big improvement. And then to add electronic
fuel injection and ignition timing could easily explain a 15%
increase in fuel economy.
If Zehrbach clamed to increase the fuel efficiency of my 1998
ford by 8%, I two would say that he was full of s**t, but to say this
about a 30 to 50 year old design does not seam to me to be
a stretch of the truth.
Just my 2 cents worth.
