The prior discussions reminded me of 30 years ago when a carburetor was
invented that you could simply bolt on and poof your car mileage would
double.  There were numerious printed anecdotal reports of verification in
the major auto magazines and also quotes from secret top level governmental
field tests.  Unfortunately, the auto and gas companies got together,
bought out the invention and have had it burried ever since.  Pehaps in the
interest of the United States of America, the government was also involved
in this conspiracy.

Unlike the prior editorials, I'm not interested in the unbiased reports!
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an unbiased report these days.
Show me the science, physics and thermodynamics.  Granted, reducing
friction, improving airflow, and etc. could make tents of a % imporvement
in SFC.  Probably the only significant SFC  improvement   (>10%)  remaining
in gas engine technology is to increase the internal combustion temperature
significantly (a law of thermodynamics).  The higher temps required to get
the higher SFC, barring new materials, will generally decrease engine life
and reliability which is not good unless you like landing in corn fields.

Let's find our way back to more meaningful discussions relating to
Lancairs.

I just installed the gas oleo replacement for the rubber 320/360 Mooney
main gear donut.  It looks like it will be a great improvement but I have
not flown it yet. I am expecting a 10% or better improvement in GJ (grease
jobs) which is how I justified the expense to my wife.  Stand by for my
unbiased anecdotal GJ report comming soon.
