I replaced one bad cylinder on my Cessna 150 (Continental O-200) due to low
compression two years ago.  The engine used to use one quart of oil in 5 or 6
hours, but after the replacement it took 16 hours to go thru the next quart.  
The quart after that (I mean, after I added another quart) was gone in 12
hours, and now I'm back to the more normal 6 - 8 hours per quart.

What I'm trying to say is don't be surprised if your low oil comsumption
doesn't last for too long.  On the other hand, I had no reduced temperatures
or improved power from my new cylinder.  My comments are strictly related to
oil consumption.

Back to Lancairs, every Cessna 150 owner knows to not completely fill the
engine with oil.  Instead of filling to six quarts, we fill to
five-and-a-half.  The top half quart goes overboard out the breather tube
very rapidly.  Does this hold true with Lancairs as well?  (I don't see why
it wouldn't)
