Unfortunately the person I had planned to have test fly it and train me, Peter Zaccagnino as you probably know, is no longer available. That by itself might not be a problem, but back when I had to decide on an engine, the Continentals had a reputation of breaking crank shafts and TBO's of 500 hours. I learned of the benefits of water cooling and FADIC, among other things, and went with an Engine Air V8 that is rated at 440 horse power, but dynode at 475 hp. at 40 inches of manifold pressure. Don Goetz, who test flew and trained several people in these V8 IV-P's, is now retired. I also understand Charley Koehler does not test fly V8's, Jewel at Lancair has not been able to provide any names. My question is, can anyone suggest someone who might be qualified as a test pilot/trainer and hopefully meet the insurance company requirements. At this point, searching outside of the box may be what is needed to get results. The airplane is hangered at KPNE in Philadelphia. It is equipped with a Garmin 430,530, a Sierra EFIS system, a Sandel HSI along with a host of other goodies such as a Ryan 9900BX anti-collision system and the six pack of steam gauges. The airplane has been high speed taxied and is ready for flight. I can also be contacted at 215 828 6784 Scott Turner
