An interesting thing happened as I was sitting in the plane after a successful
engine run. It was last Sunday about 3:30 pm in Michigan (about 43 degrees
lattitude) and the plane was facing North-East. With the canopy raised (forward
hinge mount) a bystander noticed the leather on the IP dust cover starting to
smoke. Sure enough, the canopy was catching the sun and focusing it nearly
perfectly on the dust cover. Bloody _ _ _ _! The plane was facing almost
exactly away from the sun.
Something to keep in mind.
