I thought this might be of interest to builders and flyers simply as a
level of comparison.
I just completed a trip (from Greensboro, GA - 3J7) to attend a family
reunion in Minnesota followed by a trip east from Faribault to Skaneateles, NY
to visit more family and grandbabies.
I noted these cruise numbers on one leg for info to others who might like
to compare to their own performance and to give builders a look ahead to what
they can expect from their little airplane.
Altitude: 9500' - 19 deg. C.
Engine: 2350 RPM and 22" MAP (full throttle)
Gross weight: 1470 lbs. approximate.
IAS: 163 kts.
TAS: 196 kts.
Fuel burn approx 8.75 gal/hr.
Fuel cost varied from $3.99/gal at Faribault to $4.10 at Seneca Falls, NY
to $4.30 at Effingham, Illinois.
This was a good trip for me to visit family and points out again what a
wonderful little cruiser we have. I can say to those building that
all the work is worth it. I can also verify that there is an awful lot of
water in Lake Michigan.
