Do not use acetone!! or any other solvent. Try sticking a fresh piece of
duct tape down and peeling it up. Each time you do this, some of the
adhesive should come up. You can also warm the area  to soften the adhesive.
Beer also works to improve the situation. Take 12 ounces internally
immediately after deciding you will never get this crap off, wait 10 minutes
then continue working.

In the future apply 3M masking tape first (the 3M adhesive resists transfer)
then the duct tape.
