Rick Schrameck and I were discussing off-line that the software/computer "brains" are probably not a problem but the mechanical connections of the electrical sensors can be a real issue. I helped a friend install, wire and debug a VM1000 (actually we still debug it now and then). It is the older style VM unit with the small terminal strips. It has been problematic - more that I care to deal with. Keeping those mechanical connections of electrical conductors in hostile, high vibration environments seems to be a challenge to a lot of homebuilders. Of course, when done right they can be pretty reliable. ..
