That was in night VMC with the plane lined up 1.5 NM from the
threshold - what was the reason for the right turn at that point? Spatial
disorientation? Visual disorientation? ? ? ?
Anyway, if the NTSB reports listed at
http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp are
scanned, one would notice that there are many fatal GA accidents interspersed
among the Lancair ones.
