Try operating at the same 32 " but at 2400 RPM and LOP,  and see if you
seen the periodic "shudder". =20

Are your mags pressurized?   Which mags are they?   The Slicks or the
Bendix 2000 series ?

and then shudders for an instant, then smooth again.  I've not
experienced that with my Lyc IO-360: it runs smooth leaned back nearly
