Four years ago we flew from Corona (AJO) to Cobb County, GA in 6.1 hours with one fuel stop in Pampa, Texas. We fly at 65 percent power with GAMI injectors, lean of peak. We were caught up in the best jet stream of over 100 knots. We were showing 369 Knots ground speed!!! ATC came on and asked what kind of jet we were. Response: We are not a jet. ATC: What kind of twin are you? Response: We are not a twin. This is a single engine. ATC: Are you sure? Response: We were when we left. ATC: Well, you are overtaking a Lear so I have to vector you. Okay, so we were in a slight descent, but that is still pretty darn good! After the vector, ATC came back on and wanted to know what we were flying. We informed him it was just a little experimental plane built in the garage! That sure is fun to say! Fly safe! Susan Brunner (By the way, we did take a picture showing the 369 knots GS to brag to others!)
