It seems to me that this is one area
where advanced training would be very helpful from someone who really
understands the aerodynamics involved. Rich Stowell conducts/ed unusual attitude
recovery training, and this might be something right down his alley. It would be
best, also, if the training is conducted in the plane normally flown. As the
military says, "We fight as we are trained". I've noticed also that most of the
airports I've flown from have a parallel taxiway suitable for landing, or even a
90 deg runway off the end, as at SMX. It's often smooth, too, on the land
between taxiway and runway. I've often experienced trepidation when taking off
from Pine Mountain Lake, with its trees and lake straight
ahead!
