I'm not Gary either but I use the same unit as Scott.  My primary use is to be able to fly off 2300' turf and arrive with the slowest safe speed under various conditions.

I was shocked to notice how close to a stall one comes during the pull up after a low pass [to check the runway conditions] and turning to re enter the downwind for landing.

Another benefit of this device is the aural 'gear' warning that may get  your attention if not extended while otherwise distracted on short final.

Gary, which one would you recommend?
Gary,

I'm not Gary but I have the following AOA device:

Good for climb performance, glide, lift reserve comfort, descent speed, etc., etc.

I have used this tool along with other tools (altimeter, turn coordinator, VSI, attitude gyro, DG, compass, airspeed, etc) when appropriate and as needed - sometimes I look out the window as a cross check.
