I don't have any direct experience.  I know that the old wsi satellite is a single satellite and that it is harder to get to work than, say, xm.   I believe there are people with the standard antenna that are having success.   ....but I think you have to have it right up against eglass or outside.
 
I originally got the tip to use the marine antenna from Kirk Hammersmith at direct2 who said it worked in more than one case where the standard one didn't.
 
Hergert's post is interesting.   I guess I have to wonder about having it right next to your TCAD antenna though.
