I have been reading this thread and looking at the pictures and then went on a college graduation trip. While on the ground waiting for deparure we saw a Contenental B- with, as I recall, with the styalized globe near the leading edge of the vertical stab - rudder and a sky blue trailing edge. The effect when squinting was very similar to the photo submitted of the B-737 in flight

The top of the vertical stabilizer appears to be painted a slightly more "electric" shade of "sky blue". It is distinguishable from the surrounding sky on my monitor, but barely.
