So sad, if this was the result of the pilot pulling his wing to a stall AOA ... because he didn't have an AOA vane to SEE on the vane exactly how close to stalling his wing he was.
Not lights on the panel, or horns that only tell you you're within 7? degrees of your AOA.   A simple wind-to-wing vane.
Anyone can make one of these things for less than $100, and stick it out on the wing in plain view, and make it a habit to glance at it!
Why is this so damned hard to understand?????
The US Navy put AOAs on every carrier plane in 1956, and cut (very professional pilots') landing accidents 50% !! the first year.

As a result of Matt Hapgood's report of another 360 accident, I went to the NTSB web site and saw two more recent Lancair accidents.  A Lancair 360 crashed in Australia on April 5 and the pilot was killed.  A newspaper report reads,

"The man who died in a plane crash in south-western Sydney this afternoon was the President of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia, Ron Bertram.

Air Services Australia is investigating the crash, which happened at Bankstown airport after the single engine plane did a steep right turn, about 380 metres above the ground.
