This Garmin AT SL70 transponder image might get the LML shielding juices flowing. No proper backshell used here or on their GX60,SL30,MX20, etc...
When I asked about their shield terminating technique and why they chose not to ground the shield through a backshell to the chassis, the comment was,
"It might look prettier done that way but grounding the shield pigtail directly to the chassis has proven to be a superior method."
Go figure. They don't call this a black art for nothing!
