Never operated LOP while I was in the airplane.  Our goal was BEST POWER, around 150F rich of peak.  Getting that much horsepower LOP would have meant even more boost, and we were boosting beyond the turbochargers optimum efficiency quite a ways as it was.

    interesting post.

    Did you guys ever figure out how LOP you would have to be to keep under 400dF CHT?

....or more to the point, what your max LOP fuel flow (and therefore power) was to keep CHT below 400dF
