On the landing gear legs is real neat - as long as you remember to add a
power interrupt switch that turns the lights off when the gear is retracted
regardless of the position of the "ON / OFF" switch in the cockhouse.

Halogen lights MUST run hot to function properly, and even though the listed
lights are only rated 50 watts, Halogens seem to have the capability to
produce a lot of light AND nearly their whole power rating as a heat
point-source. so be sure they can't stay on when tucked away.

Besides, on a 12 volt system, two of them would be soaking up around 8 to
8.5 amps if you forgot to turn them off.

Don't know if, at flight conditions with all that air flow over the wing,
the heat from the lamps would cause any problems for the composite - but why
chance it? Put in a safety switch and don't sweat it.
