pitot heat off lost airspeed indicator. Went to instruments hit
speed brakes, started down using attitude indicator then turned on
pitot heat. What was most distracting; immediate decompression due
to loss of airspeed indicator. IVP have a safety switch that dumps
pressurization when speed is low to prevent landing with pressure.
Of course next most distracting when the airspeed comes back so does
pressure. 456A Greg Goodrich 500hrs ears still
adjusting
Sounds like a little pitot heat "on" could have prevented most of this. If
you are going to fly high then pitot heat should be on your "before takeoff"
checklist.
