Hello Chris,
Thank you for your respond, by the way I
really enjoyed reading your website. Yes, I have out-back gears and flap
system behind the aft spar. Kit
is Super-Fast-Build-360-Carbon. Restriction is the aft spar in up
travel (but that is OK I have flap full up in reflex) and motor/drive
stroke is a restriction in the down travel. After a much evaluation of the
situation and also input from Lancair Factory folks a I've decided to do these
two modifications:
A) Move the flap's motor aft 1.250"
B) Manufacture a new center torque arm with
clevis attach pivot-point lower by 0.625"
These will give me flap deployment from
-7deg (reflex) to +40deg (full down),... for total travel of 8.750" as per
drawings.

Garry,
I use full flaps(~45 deg) on 99 out of 100 landings. They
are very effective and permit steep approaches with excellent visibility
over nose on final. I would try to get as much deflection as
possible. It will buy you all kinds of versatility in the pattern.
Which actuation system do you have? Is the kit a fast build?
The outback gear requires the that the flaps use a torque tube behind the rear
spar. The standard gear uses all pushrods and bell cranks. If
you have the outback gear and a fast build kit, the clearance behind the rear
spar may be less than ideal. Have you been able to determine what is
restricting your travel?
