Be careful with near vision correction and contact lenses.  FAA still not
okay with bifocal contacts and always avoid monovision. Eye docs like to
correct one eye for distant and one eye for near vision and this may
disqualify you on your medical.

I love my lightweight rimless bi-focal glasses that not only deal with astigmatism and far vision correction, but protect my eyes when doing weird things - chain sawing, power sanding, grinding, motorcycling, leaning out the car window just like my dog, generally putting my nose where it doesn't belong, etc.
