Another point to consider (two points actually)
is how it meets the skin.
On my plane, some damage was done because the
mount point wasn't flexible enough as the tail was raised and
lowered.
What is needed is a pin into a hole in the
plane so it doesn't slide around - mounted in a ball joint and then well
padded.

I tried to taxi with it attached - works in the snow and ice. If you
use aircraft power the mains can be raised off the ground thus reducing
wear.
I don't know about anyone else but I use short 1/4" bolts thru an area
washer threaded into tapped holes in the fuselage jack points.
The bolt heads fit thru the large area washer welded to the lift top so it
can't slip. Any movement is betwixt washer and washer. I have never
had any damage from years of lifting with this type of arrangement.
As is usual, your method is backward and upside down from the one I
use.
