Jim -- if the NASA video is of the Northcoast system it was carried out in a
icing test cell environment many years ago. The problem area seems to be not
in the system's concept but in the real world application. Basic questions
remain such as: "What do all those whizzing electrons do to other aircraft
systems?", and "What did actual flight tests demonstrate about the effect on
airfoils and the ability to actually shed ice?"
It would be neat if there were positive answers to questions like that, I
just don't know anyone who can credibly provide those answers.
