Since I installed the LSE Electronic Ignition System; I am using 14 mm
automotive spark plugs. The reducers installed in the cylinder heads prevent
me from using the 18 mm dryer plugs when it is desired to pickle the engine
for the winter season.
Problem solved. See the enclosed photographs for the solution.
At your local hardware store purchase:
a 1 inch popular dowel
6 or 8 14 mm grommet ring rubber washers
Go to your local pharmacy and pick up 6 or 8 medicine containers of the 1
inch diameter size.
Go to your local NAPA auto parts store and purchase 6 or 8
Spark Plug Non-Foulers part number 730-2446 or 730-2440 whihc are diferent
lengths.
Construction is as follows:
1. drill out the bottom of the plastic container so that the 14mm plug can
penetrate through it.
2. sand the dowel stock so that it has a close tolerance fit in or near the
bottom of the plastic pill container.
3. Cut 6 or 8 1/2 or so dowel buttons from the dowel stock
4. Drill, ream, sand out the center of the dowell buttons to receive ths
spark plug non-fouler up to the hexagon portion of the fouler.
5. mechanically rough up the non-fouler preparatory for epoxy.
6. hot glue with CA or use epoxy to glue the wood ring to the pill container.
7 gule in with epoxy the non-fouler into the wood ring.
8. Add the rubber sealing grommet to the threads against the pill container.
9. install gauze, cotton or other air pourous mesh screen inside the
non-fouler
10. fill the containers with descicant (dryer) and add the cap
11. Install in the motor for pickling.
Advantages. Cheaper than the real thing. I could not find 14 mm plugs.
Contains more volume of desicant.
Enjoy.
